Weld County Road Rage Shooting: Austin Vinion Arrested After Highway 85 Incident

Authorities in Weld County, Colorado have arrested 27-year-old Austin Vinion in connection with a road rage shooting that left one man injured near Highway 85 on Thursday evening.

According to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 5 p.m. to the area of northbound Highway 85 and 37th Street following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim who had been struck by a bullet. Officials confirmed the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.

Following an initial investigation that included witness statements and evidence collected at the scene, detectives identified Vinion as the primary suspect in the shooting.

Law enforcement later located Vinion at his residence, where he was taken into custody without further incident. He now faces multiple charges, including attempted second-degree homicide, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a road rage confrontation, though the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under active investigation. The Weld County Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with additional information to come forward as authorities continue to piece together the events.

Officials emphasized that all charges are allegations at this stage, and Austin Vinion is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
