Sheanaka Poindexter Obituary: Mobile Woman Killed in Vienna Avenue Shooting, Suspect Arrested

Mobile, Alabama — Authorities in Mobile have identified Sheanaka Poindexter, 40, as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on Vienna Avenue.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded around 12:30 a.m. on March 21 to reports of gunfire in the 5400 block of Vienna Avenue. Upon arrival, Poindexter was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the incident stemmed from a domestic-related situation. Authorities allege that Desmond Longmire, 39, who was known to the victim, forced entry into the home prior to the shooting.

Longmire has been arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and murder. He is currently being held at Metro Jail awaiting a bond hearing.

The tragic death of Poindexter has left her family, friends, and the wider Mobile community mourning her loss. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the case.
