Queens NY Shooting Today: Teen Killed at Roy Wilkins Park After Basketball Court Argument

Queens, New York — A deadly shooting at Roy Wilkins Park in St. Albans has left a 15-year-old boy dead following a dispute that escalated on a basketball court Thursday evening, according to police.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on April 16 near the Nautilus Playground area of the park, where several teenagers were reportedly involved in an argument that turned violent.

Police reports indicate the victim was initially assaulted during a confrontation before at least one suspect allegedly drew a firearm and opened fire, striking the teen in the chest.

Emergency responders rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation is being led by the New York City Police Department’s 113th Precinct, which confirmed that the suspect remains at large and an active search is underway.

Community members and violence prevention advocates have expressed concern over the incident, calling for stronger intervention programs aimed at reducing youth violence and limiting illegal firearm access.
