Father of 11-Year-Old Boy Found Dead in Kyoto Arrested
Authorities in Kyoto Prefecture have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the death of his 11-year-old son, whose body was discovered earlier this week in a forested area of Nantan city.
Police identified the suspect as Yuuki Adachi, who is accused of transporting and abandoning the body of his son, Yuki Adachi. According to investigators, the body was left approximately 2 kilometers from the boy’s elementary school between March 23 and April 14.
Father Admits Involvement
During questioning, Adachi reportedly admitted to the allegations, telling authorities there was “no doubt” about his involvement in abandoning the body. His arrest followed an intensive investigation led by the Kyoto Prefectural Police.
Initially, Adachi claimed his son had gone missing on the morning of March 23 after getting out of his car near the school. However, surveillance footage did not support this account, prompting further scrutiny from investigators.
Large-Scale Search Operation
Authorities launched a massive search effort involving around 1,000 personnel across the city of Nantan over a three-week period. The search ended tragically when the boy’s body was discovered on Monday evening.
Cause of Death Still Unknown
An autopsy revealed that the child likely died in late March, but the exact cause of death remains undetermined. Officials noted there were no visible external injuries on the body, leaving key questions unanswered.
Investigation Ongoing
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death, including how and when he died. Authorities are also working to determine whether additional charges may be filed against the suspect.
