Quesnel Shooting: Police Investigate Incident After Man Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries

A shooting incident in Quesnel has prompted an active investigation after a man was found with life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The incident occurred on April 15, 2026, when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on Nason Street. Police say a man inside the home was firing multiple rounds, with some bullets reportedly striking a neighboring property.

Officers quickly secured the area and called in specialized emergency response teams. After attempts to communicate with the suspect failed, police entered the residence and discovered the individual suffering from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital in serious condition.

Authorities confirmed that no other individuals were injured during the shooting, despite the potential risk to nearby homes.

The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) has been notified and is now reviewing the circumstances surrounding the police response, as required in cases involving serious injury.

Investigators have cordoned off the area while gathering evidence, and officials say no further details will be released at this time due to the ongoing probe.

Residents in Quesnel are being urged to remain vigilant and report any relevant information to authorities as the investigation continues.
